Ten years ago, in 2015, a beautiful idea took root in the Netherlands: to create a choir that would weave together two cultures through the universal language of music. The vision was to build a community for Latvians living in the Netherlands and for Dutch singers who had already found a connection with our choirmaster, the inspiring Gunita Kronberga.
From our first rehearsals in Roosendaal, what began as a project quickly blossomed into something much more. Under Gunita's passionate leadership, a unique musical family was born. Our very first Christmas concerts were filled with an infectious enthusiasm and warmth that set the stage for all that was to come. With each new season, a new musical project was embraced, attracting more and more singers until we could no longer call ourselves just a "project" – we had become a true choir.
For Latvians, singing in a choir is more than a hobby; it is a cherished part of our national identity and a tradition that has been passed down through generations. The monumental Song and Dance Festivals in Latvia, where thousands of singers join in a single, powerful voice, are a testament to this profound love for choral music. Our choir is proud to carry this tradition forward, having participated in these incredible festivals and sharing that unique spirit with our audiences.
Our journey has been one of resilience and growth. We navigated the challenges of the pandemic and emerged stronger, ready to share our music across borders with memorable concerts in Belgium, France, and here in the Netherlands. We were thrilled to collaborate with IGO and his crew, celebrating our shared passion for song.
Now, in 2025, we are overjoyed to be celebrating our 10th anniversary. A decade of friendship, cultural exchange, and beautiful music has culminated in a vibrant choir with a full schedule of concerts and appearances. We are immensely proud of our journey and look forward to sharing our love for singing with you for many years to come.
Sincerely,
Gunita Krongerga
